The Xunta de Galicia has launched the Fogar Vivo program, aimed at bringing up to 1,300 empty homes into the rental market. This plan offers grants of up to €16,000 per home for private owners wishing to rent their properties.
What does the grant consist of?
- Up to €11,000 for renovations to ensure habitability.
- €3,000 for insurance to cover non-payments and damages.
- An additional €2,000 if renting to priority groups such as young people under 36, families with children, or dependents.
Main requirements:
– The home must have been vacant for at least 3 months.
– Commitment to rent for a minimum of 5 years.
– Maximum rental prices: up to €700/month in stressed areas and €450/month in other areas.
– This program seeks to incentivize the supply of affordable housing and improve access to rental housing for vulnerable sectors in Galicia.
